CARVED OUT IN STONE
Of course a basin is just a basin, which needs to carry out its function, and no doubt the one we designed is to no exception. Yet this one is more than any old basin and looks more like a rather special piece of sculpture which we in fact had hand made by some skilled craftsmen specialised in travertine from Rapolano Terme.
The basin is made out of a single block of "classic" travertine, which was then carefully carved out. The basin rests on a straightforward piece of flat "SCABAS" type travertine with simple linear shaped corners and characterized by a rather beautiful orangey-red colour with beige veinage.
The set is housed in a rather well equipped bathroom - whereby the whiteness of both the sanitary ware and bath stands out against the background of the surfaced walls – which was done using travertine slabs which we had cut and specifically installed (according to instructions). These wall slabs also contributed towards a sense of continuity and harmony along with the choice of furniture and therefore created a rather charming overall effect as well as being functional.
