LIVING WITH BRIO
Here the objectives were ambitious: We had to consolidate the structure of the roof while the owners were still living in the flat. Not being able to open up the roof we had to find an internal solution building around this rather intruding metal structure, which needed to somehow become part of the spirit of the place. One may ask how it could possibly be possible to transform the apartment’s structural characteristics into some pleasing and integrated architectural design.
This was exactly what our challenge was all about. In a small two-family building, in the close outskirts of town, you have this little apartment with a considerable amount of space to be exploited on several levels: Indeed the challenge was to find a way to connect this rather complex space around the metallic structure which was needed to hold up the roof on one hand and to which many flights of stairs and landings were also attached to.
With much personality the customers also chose the different shades of colour and variety of materials to be used which all resulted in creating this rather contemporary colourful apartment thriving with energy in which its rather distinguished structure in fact turned out to be a main focal point.
